White Water Safety course

Are you a Klamath or Trinity River Native youth between the ages 16 to 24 years of age? Are you a confident swimmer?   The Save the Salmon and the Redwoods and Rivers collaboration; the Kimaw Medical Center-Native Connections Project; the Two Feathers Native American Family Resources Center and Hoopa Youth organizers are sponsoring a two-day White Water Safety Course.  18 slots are open.  You will learn to identify river features, river currents, to safely swim rapids; shallow river crossing, rescue swimming and more.  This free course happens July 31st and August 1st at Tish Tang Campground, Hwy 96.  Please arrive by 8:30 AM.  Upon completion you will earn a Swiftwater Rescue for Rafting Guides certificate.  Lunch and snacks are provided. Please bring your own water, sun screen, and the usual day-on-the-river gear. Wear clothing you can swim in.  COVID safety precautions will be followed.
