The Hoopa Valley Tribal Council, in conjunction with Hoopa OES, has declared a state of emergency with regards to the current Smoke Emergency. Unfortunately, there are not enough motel rooms available to evacuate everyone to the Coast but for those who have health conditions which make it of critical need to be moved out, the Tribe is working with NCIDC to make rooms available provided that K'ima:w Medical Center determines that you are a priority to be evacuated. The Hupa Family Resource Center provides many different services and activities that are open to all community members. The Resource Center is open by appointment only. Mask are required. Application Assistance & CalWorks, CalFresh and Welfare to Work, Laundry Assistance and LIMITED Gas Vouchers are only available as funding permits, by appointment only. COVID-19 Emergency Food, Cleaning & Hygiene Supplies are available to Community members who are confidentially referred by Kimaw Medical Center or Hoopa Office of Emergency Services, as funding permits.…Find out more »
State Route 299 is under escorted one-way traffic control from approximately 4 miles west of Burnt Ranch to just west of Helena. Traffic will be escorted through the closure EVERY THREE HOURS between the hours of 7:00 am and 7:00 am. Opening times are 7:00 am, 10:00 am, 1:00 pm, 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases and the Delta variant being very contagious, the K'ima:w Medical Center Lobby will be further limiting to access patients, visitors and community members. The K'ima:w Behavioral Health office is closed to in person services, limiting all services to virtual appointments, due to the increased number of COVID-19 cases. Virtual services included are AOD-one on one visits, AOD groups, mental health visits and cultural classes. Behavioral Health staff will be available for any crisis situations or high-risk clients that may require in person services. The U.S. Forest Service - Six Rivers National Forest asks motorists to please NOT STOP along Highway 96 to watch firefighting operations at the McCash Fire. Congestion caused by people stopping to watch the fire could hamper firefighting efforts and endanger other drivers, which may make it necessary to close Highway 96. The KMC Pharmacy will be closed a half day on Thursday, September 30th from 1 PM to 5 PM to conduct an annual inventory. The Pharmacy will reopen on Friday, October 1st at 9:00 AM. Normal pharmacy hours are Open: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Closed: Monday to Friday for lunch 1 PM to 2 PM; every 1st and 3rd Wednesday until 2 PM.
