Lone Pine Fire Community Meeting
August 17, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
There is a community meeting today at 6:00 pm in the Tribal Council Chambers, to provide more information on the Lone Pine fire. The meeting will be live streamed on Facebook, , Zoom and broadcast live on KIDE at 91.3 FM and online at kidefm.org for those who cannot attend in person.
Crews have been able to make good progress directly at the fire, however OES and the Hoopa Valley Tribe also have contingency plans in place in case it goes past handlines currently being put into place. Zoom link below
It is expected that the smoke will only get worse. The NF Gym and Senior Nutrition Center have been set up as clean air facilities for those who need relief from the heat and smoky conditions..
Currently, no evacuation orders are in place, but it is advised that the Zone between Community Road and the end of Tish Tang Rd., inclusive of Airport and Hospital Roads, be on alert. If an evacuation order goes into place the Zone haven system will be used, and Social Media, plus KIDE and other media will let people know. There is a significant team ready to go out and knock on doors if an order is issued.
